Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new attachments. They can also increase its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Usually objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
In order to upgrade an item of armor, the user must select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For example the addition of a Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant differences from earlier versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level however the materials required do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across several items.

If an item is finished being leveled and is leveled out, it will be capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, and a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to be given affixes that increase its features. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's kind. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes to choose from and legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests, depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item is not able to attain its maximum level The NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material, though it will result in a lower chance of success.
Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building to a known point, like a benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential aspect of the game, and it can boost an item's damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be done through the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each stat. This could be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are rolled into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also has a number sets that grant the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on a unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling is a way to get a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They could be of various sizes, contain none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or sort information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, including size and shape.
There are a variety of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while others are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. However, weapon upgrades often don't improve the stats of the item when as compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Some set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs, which can be particularly useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. Cases gg , for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when they are updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated look.
